Mohammad was born in Isfahan, Iran. He received his BS and MS in physics from Isfahan University of Technology and entered the University of Darmstadt-Germany in 2009. He received his PhD in theoretical physical chemistry in 2012. He joined the de Pablo Group at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering as a postdoctoral researcher in October 2012.

Liquid crystals (LCs) are materials that have properties between conventional liquids and solid crystals. This combination of properties leads to many different types of LC phases, which can be distinguished by their different optical properties. Here Mohammad uses different simulation methods at different time and length scales to study LC phases and ordering where LCs are confined to certain geometries.
