Matthew Tirrell to testify before Congress on materials science

On Wednesday, June 28, at 9 a.m. (Central), IME Pritzker Director Matthew Tirrell, in his Argonne National Laboratory Deputy Laboratory Director for Science and Chief Research Officer capacity, will be testifying before the U.S. House Science, Space, and Technology Subcommittee on Energy (Randy Weber (R-TX), chairman) and the Subcommittee on Research and Technology (Barbara Comstock (R-VA), chairman) on Materials Science: Building the Future.

Others expected to testify include: 

  • Dr. Laurie Locascio, Acting Associate Director for Laboratory Programs and Director of NIST Material Measurement Laboratory
  • Dr. Adam Schwartz, Director, Ames Laboratory
  • Dr. Fred Higgs, John and Ann Doerr Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Rice University
