Sushant Sonde received B. Eng. from The University of Pune, India and M. Eng. from The Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Germany in 2002 and 2007 respectively. Sushant received his Ph.D. in Nanosciences from the School of Excellence at The University of Catania, Italy in 2010. During his Ph.D., Sushant explored novel techniques to characterize transport properties in graphene at mesoscopic scale.
Since 2011 he has been a Post-Doc fellow then Research Associate at the Microelectronics Research Center, The University of Texas at Austin working in the group of Prof. Sanjay K Banerjee. At UT Austin Sushant worked and collaborated on growth, characterization and device application of novel materials (e. g. graphene, h-BN, transition metal dichalcogenides, and topological insulators).
Sushant was International Scholar at the Interuniversity Microelectronics Center (IMEC), Leuven, Belgium from June – November 2006 where he worked on Germanium-on-Silicon technology.
Sushant is recipient of ‘Oberbuergermeister-Dieter-Goerlitz-Preis’ (from The City of Deggendorf – 2007) and ‘Young Scientist Award’ (The European Materials Research Society Spring Meeting – 2009).
