Water and Urban Development: Addressing Challenges Through Policy and Innovation

This event is free, but registration is required. To register, please click here.

This year's U.S.-China Forum will build on a discussion of "Shared Challenges in Water Management & Urban Development" between officials from the U.S. and China. Two expert panel discussions will follow proposing and exploring potential solutions to some of the primary challenges raised in the opening discussion: solutions found in public policy and solutions found in engineering and technology. The panels will be balanced with scientific researchers, policy administrators/analysts, and industrial leaders from both the U.S. and China. The roundtable discussion will be led by Steve Edwards, former NPR journalist and current executive director of the Institute of Politics. He'll engage three figures — one each from policy, science, and industry — on their particular perspectives regarding water as a resource and on where/why those perspectives need to converge. The forum will close with an address from Christophe Beck of Nalco Water exploring global issues of water management from an industrial perspective.
